Raised in a local Chicago family with strong ties to the electronic construction field, Loretta Rosenmayer originally started Trench-It out of necessity in 1988 after her husband became ill. Falling back on what she knew best proved to be one of the most lucrative decisions she ever made; almost 20 years later, Trench-It has become one of the largest women-owned underground construction companies in the Midwest, with almost 300 employees, and new 26,000 square foot facility, and annual revenue in excess of $50 million.
Loretta has diligently guided the growth of her company for the past 18 years based on a firm commitment to integrity, quality and safety, attributes that won her the “Golden Backhoe Award” in 2000 from the JULIE One Call Center in Illinois for outstanding safety performance.
Trench-It recently won a competitive bid job from Exelon. This job is the largest lump sum bid Trench-It has EVER won and is over $8m dollars for a one year project. Exelon invited 12 companies from around the country to bid this URD Cable Replacement work and Trench-It, the only WBE, won! Trench-It will be replacing 52 miles of underground cable in 2007 for Exelon. Trench-It has been certified with the WBDC since 1998.
A long time friend and supporter of the Women’s Business Development Center, Loretta has tirelessly shared her expertise with WBDC and our clients through numerous committee appointments and speaking engagements.
